Machine Shop Training
Spring 2014
This flashlight project was my first experience with using a manual mill and lathe. The design and dimensions were provided by the shop staff.
Both the square front piece and cylindrical handle were machined from stock material. On the front piece I used a mill to create mounting features for a light bulb and front screen, and tapped internal threads to interface with the handle. The handle doubles as a AAA battery holder and was machined on a lathe, using a die and knurling tool to create the features.
